Fairfax County Sheriff's Office Receives Generous Donation for Shop with a Sheriff Program
August 1, 2012
Liberty Mutual Insurance donated $1,000 to the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office Shop with a Sheriff program. Donations from Liberty Mutual are corporate funds used to support worthy programs in the local community.
On August 29, 2012, the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office will take 25-30 children who are homeless on a back-to-school shopping spree at the Target in Burke, Va. Now in its 19th year, Shop with a Sheriff pairs deputies and other Sheriff's Office staff with school-aged children temporarily residing at the Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter in Fairfax and the Patrick Henry Family Shelter in Falls Church.
"When we heard about this program to help less fortunate kids stock up on clothing and school supplies, we could not resist participating," said Ben Migliaccio of Liberty Mutual's Alexandria branch. Earlier this year, Migliaccio directed a donation to the Sheriff's Office Project Lifesaver program.
