The Sheriff's Office has launched a more efficient way for friends and family to schedule a visit with an inmate housed at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. A user-friendly online form lets you choose your preferred weekend day and time and submit it with the click of a button. The Sheriff's Office promises an e-mailed response within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.
Visitors still can call for an appointment, but the online form helps visitors avoid busy signals and long waits on hold. Inmates are allowed one 20-minute visit per week, with up to three adults and three children at the visit.
Visitors should arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled visit to check in.
The Adult Detention Center processes over 50,000 inmates per year and houses an average of 1,300 inmates on any given day. Generally, the facility takes offenders sentenced to no more than one year in the longest of cases. Those inmates sentenced to serve extended time in prison are transferred to appropriate state facilities.
