Specially trained and certified sheriff's deputies will help parents and caregivers ensure that a child fits securely in the safety seat and that the safety seat fits securely in the vehicle seat.
Bring your vehicle and safety seat(s). Bring your child, too...if he or she is available!

Virginia law requires that ALL children up to age 8 must be in a child restraint device (which includes a booster seat).
The law also states that ALL
rear-facing infant seats MUST be placed in the back seat of a
vehicle. In the event the vehicle does not have a back seat, the
rear-facing infant seat may be placed in the front passenger seat
ONLY if the vehicle is either not equipped with a passenger side
airbag or the passenger side airbag has been deactivated.

online instructional videos to help you get the job done
right.
- If you cannot view the videos, or if you still need help with the safety seat installation after viewing them, you may request an appointment at the Sheriff's Office Fit Station. Please email the Sheriff's Office with your daytime phone number, and a sheriff's deputy will call you. The Fit Station is located at 10520 Judicial Drive in the Public Safety Center. The Fit Station operates by appointment only.
