The
Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Fairfax
County Board of Supervisors, recognized two Sheriff's Deputies for their
heroic actions during the past year at the 30th Annual Valor Awards
Program on March 13, 2008.
Lieutenant Tyler Corey and PFC Michael Ittner each received a Certificate of Valor for placing their own safety at risk to save the life of an inmate who had attempted suicide.
Sheriff Barry said of the winners, "The Valor Award is a very prestigious honor for those who have made selfless sacrifices, sometimes placing themselves in grave danger. I congratulate these two deputies who represent the very best qualities of public service."
The Valor Awards Program also recognizes members of the county's Police Department and Fire and Rescue Department.
