Sheriff Stan Barry presents a badge to a new Reserve Deputy Sheriff.The Fairfax County Sheriff's Office is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to serve the community in an interesting and rewarding role as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff.

  • Local training (80+ hours) is provided by certified law enforcement instructors and is conducted during non-business hours.
  • Uniforms, equipment and risk insurance are provided upon successful completion of the training.

Candidate Requirements

Reserve Deputy Sheriff creates a fingerprint identification for a young girl.

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license
  • No felony convictions
  • Good character
  • Good health
  • United States citizen

Selection of candidates is based on a comprehensive assessment of each applicant’s qualifications, background, and availability to support activities of the Sheriff’s Office. Members of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit come from a wide variety of backgrounds and occupations. They share a common desire to serve their community.
