South County Area Plans Review
Fairfax County has initiated its Area Plans Review (APR) for the South
County Areas of the Comprehensive Plan - Braddock, Lee, Mason, Mount
Vernon and Springfield Magisterial Districts. Information for this
process can be found in the "2009-2010 South County Area Plans Review
Guide" Copies of the Guide are located in each magisterial district
as well as the Planning Commission Office, Fairfax County Public
Libraries and the Planning Division of the Department of Planning and
Zoning. The Guide can also be viewed and printed from the Fairfax County
Department of Planning and Zoning Web page at
www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/apr.
For the 2009-2010 South County APR process, proposed changes to the Area
Plans volumes of the Comprehensive Plan called "nominations" may
be submitted to the Planning Commission Office between August 3 and
September 16, 2009, using the form included in the APR Guide. The APR
Guide provides instructions for preparing a nomination and the submission
requirements. Nomination forms, also availble on the Web, must be
downloaded, printed and mailed. Elecctronic submissions will not be
accepted because paper attachments, such as certified mail receipts, are
required.
If you have questions about the submission information provided in the
APR Guide (available at Supervisor Herrrity's office), contact the
Planning Commission Office at 703-324-2865. If you would like more APR
