July Minutes Walter Brodtman requested additional comments be added regarding On-Road Bike Lanes. There were comments that were dropped. Approval of July Minutes deferred till Oct.
Sheng Leu - Fairfax County Parks Authority sent the NMTC as memo requesting the NMTC provide representation on Countywide Park Policy plan. A representative will be named.
The BOS appropriated $2.5M for Supervisor’s discretionary spending.
The Potomac Heritage Trail Caucus is Oct 14 & 15 in WV.
The federal Highway Administration is working on the Potomac Heritage trail from Mt Vernon Circle to Rte 1. No money has been allocated beyond the study.
There have been complaints that the current Comprehensive Plan shows both Regional and Major Paved trails. Need to simplify and eliminate duplication.

Ahmed Rayyan - Currently working on projects for Bond Referendum
- Braddock Road between Ravensworth and Backlick,
- Westmoreland between Kirby Rd and Lemon Rd,
- Vale Road between Riviera Dr and Corsica St.
- Bluebill Lane between Belle View Blvd and Swan Terrace
- Raymond Avenue between Churchhill Rd and Capitol View Dr.
- Old Keene Mill Rd from Burke Woods to Four Oaks
Donald Emerson questioned whether using funds to get grant money. Randall Flowers advised of some of the problems with grant money.
Randall Flowers mentioned 3 other projects that may be of concern:
- Roberts Road along GMU property,
- Old Columbia Pike at Elmdale Rd,
- Mason Neck Trail.
Wade Smith brought up crossing I-495 at Tyson's Corner.
Randall Flowers - There was an extensive review of existing projects.
Donald Emerson advised that we should start planning for the 2006 fiscal year.
Chair Report - Oct 6 is Walk/Bike to School day.
Dominion Power has decided not to put the new power lines along the W&OD Trail from Leesburg to Purcelville.
Chris O’Brien has resigned from Mason District.
Wade Smith There is no bicycle/pedestrian access to the Udvar-Hazey Air Museum. This should be a focus of the County. There is new development across Rte 29, perhaps the developer could proffer something.
How do we get On-Road bike lanes added when roads are being resurfaced or rebuilt? Bruce Wright to try and get VDOT or FFCDOT rep to speak at a NMTC meeting.
Rework of Existing Trails Maps - Need to mark main trails and mark detours.
