As one of its follow on motions after the adoption of the plan to transform Tysons Corner, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors directed county staff to work with stakeholders to create a partnership organization that could be in place prior to any redevelopment activity in Tysons. On January 25, 2011, members of the Tysons Partnership presented the organizational structure and activities to the Board of Supervisors. The Tysons Partnership, a membership organization, is premised upon a new type of collaboration between the county and the private sector in which representatives from all groups that have a stake in Tysons can come together to discuss and resolve issues. The Partnership will provide for early involvement with the county in and a comprehensive approach to tasks that include marketing and branding; transportation; urban design/planning; public facilities and community amenities; finance; and, sustainability initiatives. The Tysons Partnership provides a mechanism for parties to come together to create flexible and realistic plans to implement our shared long range vision for Tysons.
