Blanket and Coat Drive for Syrian Refugees Press Conference

Event Description

Local government leaders representing the Northern Virginia region will announce the
start of the 2019 Blanket and Coat Drive for Syrian refugees living in Lebanon, Jordan and
Turkey. Coordinated by the Northern Virginia Relief Center, this annual event is done in
cooperation with local governments, businesses and religious organizations throughout the
region.

The following elected officials will attend the press conference:

  • Sharon Bulova, Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
  • Jeff McKay, Chairman-Elect and current member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
  • Phyllis Randall, Chair at Large of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors
  • Martin Nohe, member of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors
  • David Meyer, Mayor of the City of Fairfax
  • David Tarter, Mayor of the City of Falls Church

This year the Northern Virginia Blanket and Coat Drive will begin on November 23 and end on
December 9.

At the press conference, a special award will be given to Paxton Van Lines of Springfield,
Virginia, which has donated countless hours of time, manpower and equipment to picking up and
transporting precious cargo to refugees living abroad.
