Community Celebrates New Mason Neck Trail Connection

On Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck and Department of Public Works and Environmental Services staff joined Mason Neck residents to celebrate the completion of a new segment of the Mason Neck Trail.

A brief ceremony was held at the Meadowood Recreation Area to mark completion of the adjacent $1.6 million project, which was funded with Virginia Department of Transportation Enhancement Funds and a contribution from Fairfax County. The county's Department of Public Works and Environmental Services managed the project, and W.C. Spratt, Inc. was the contractor. Alpha Corporation provided support services and ECS, Ltd. provided geotechnical testing services.

Watch this short video about the event.

The new 9,900-foot-long segment connects the recreational and historical attractions on Mason Neck, including Pohick Bay Golf Course, Pohick Bay Regional Park, Gunston Hall Plantation, Mason Neck State Park, and Meadowood Recreation Area.
