Electrify Existing Buildings

Many existing buildings in Fairfax County are heated and cooled by gas-powered technology. By electrifying these buildings, and converting residential appliances like stoves from gas to electricity, we can make a real difference in the greenhouse gas emissions attributable to our building energy use. As the grid becomes greener over time, with more renewable energy sources in the mix, our electricity use will no longer be problematic for our carbon reduction goals and will instead be a part of our effort to achieve carbon neutrality.

On this page you will find information about the need to electrify our buildings and to move away from harmful refrigerants. Please visit often as this page will be updated with new information over time.
