7-8 p.m.
Offered Virtually via Zoom the the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of the month.

This local addiction recovery group is a collaboration between SMART Recovery®the Department of Family Services, and Neighborhood and Community Services.

What is SMART Recovery®?

Our participants learn recovery tools based on the latest scientific research and participate in a world-wide community with free, self-empowering, science-based mutual help groups and online services.

What exactly does this mean to you?

SMART Recovery® can be used to address ANY addictive behavior. No matter what your addiction, the program’s tools and techniques will help you overcome the behavior. You’ll find a warm and welcoming community in both our face-to-face meetings and online activities.

How does SMART Recovery® help?

SMART Recovery is a 4-Point ProgramSM  that helps participants with:

  1. Building and Maintaining Motivation
  2. Coping with Urges
  3. Managing Thoughts, Feelings, and Behaviors
  4. Living a Balanced Life

On this edition of the County Conversation podcast, host Jim Person talks with Michael Schut, Parent Support Specialist in our Children, Youth, and Families Division. This position was created to provide Parent Support Services to fathers and mothers who are engaged in risky substance use or are struggling with addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. Michael talked specifically about the weekly SMART Recovery® meeting he leads to help parents and families with addiction recovery.
