The Body Safety Program was pleased to provide Speak Up Be Safe, the new and improved version of the previously used Good Touch Bad Touch curriculum. The previous version had been taught primarily in the Fairfax County elementary schools.
This child abuse prevention curriculum is designed to teach children the skills needed to stay safe - to prevent sexual abuse, to deal with bullies and how to handle sad or angry feelings. Volunteer facilitators teach children about safe and unsafe touches, and help children feel comfortable talking about body safety issues.
In November 2016, Beech Tree Elementary successfully hosted the first Speak Up Be Safe class with 160 participating students from (grades K-2). The teachers, social workers and staff were very pleased.
"I like how this new program is up to date."
One of the first grade teachers commented that the children were involved throughout the presentation. The students asked wonderful questions and were very engaged in the class.
"This is very important information that all children should have."
The Body Safety Program held classes at Sacramento Neighborhood Center and HACAN using the new curriculum, and would love to come to your school to offer this important information to your students. Don’t miss this opportunity to help children learn about keeping themselves safe from child abuse.
