Springfield House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire Thursday, September 9, 2010, at 12:01 a.m., in the Springfield area of Fairfax County. The single family home is located at 7023 Calamo Street.

Firefighters encountered fire and heavy smoke coming from the front, right side, and the garage of the rambler style home upon arrival. Fire had also spread to the attic area, where firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. Five adults have been displaced. Red Cross assistance was declined. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $40,000.

The fire is under investigation.
