West Springfield Townhouse Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire Sunday, January 23, 2011, at approximately 4 p.m., in the West Springfield area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 6416 Old Scotts Court, Old Keene Mill Village.

Firefighters saw smoke and fire showing from the rear of the second floor of the three-story home upon arrival. It took firefighters 15 minutes to bring the fire under control. Two adults and one youth have been displaced. Red Cross is assisting the displaced family. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $60,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was intentionally set. A youth playing with matches in an upstairs bedroom caused the fire.
