Smoke Alarms Alert Occupants

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at approximately 2:15 a.m., near the Country Club of Fairfax. The single- family home is located at 10703 Marlborough Road.

Firefighters saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear and sides of the structure upon arrival. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes. A sounding smoke alarm alerted the five occupants, all escaped unharmed prior to the arrival of firefighters. All of the occupants have been displaced. Red Cross assistance was unnecessary.

Damage is estimated at $150,000.

According to investigators, the fire is under investigation.
