Burke House Fire

Date:  November 26, 2012

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Wednesday, November 21, at approximately 9:35 p.m. in the Burke area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 9924 Manet Road.

First arriving fire and rescue units arrived on scene quickly to find a single-family home with fire showing from the rear deck and garage. The Incident Commander called for a second alarm, bringing over 70 firefighters to the fire scene. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and brought it under control in approximately 50 minutes.

All the occupants of the home had escaped the home prior to the fire department’s arrival.

One adult was transported to the Washington Burn Center for non life threating injuries. Four adults have been displaced. Red Cross support was declined.  

Damage is estimated at over $100,000. 

The fire is currently under investigation.
