Springfield Couple Charged in Setting Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged German Balladares, 56, and Sandra Balladares, 41, of Springfield, Virginia, Friday, April 19, 2013, with intentionally setting a house fire that occurred in the Springfield area in 2008. Both have been charged with Virginia Code 18.2-77, burning or destroying a house or dwelling; and 18.2-80, with intent to defraud an insurance company or other person.

The fire occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m., June 7, 2008, at 7209 Neuman Street. Damage to the single family home was estimated at $75,000.

One firefighter was transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
