Fairfax Station House Fire Under Investigation

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, September 15, 2013, at approximately 12:30 p.m., in the Fairfax Station area of Fairfax County. The single family home is located at 8108 Bellingham Court.

Firefighters encountered a two-story home fully involved with fire coming from all sides upon arrival. The incident commander immediately struck a second alarm, bringing approximately 60 firefighters to the scene. Firefighters were able to keep the in check the fire, not allowing the fire to spread to the nearby woods and adjacent homes with wood shake roofs. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. No one was home when the fire broke out. Three adults have been displaced, and are being supported by the Red Cross. One firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Damage is estimated at $500,000.

The fire is under investigation.
