Reston Townhouse Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire Monday, August 18, 2014, at approximately 4:15 p.m., in the Reston area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 2052 Golf Course Drive.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the two-story, end-unit townhouse upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack from both the exterior and interior, bringing the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. There was also moderate fire extension to the adjacent townhouse. All of the occupants escaped unharmed prior to firefighters arriving. A total of five occupants from both townhouses have been displaced. Red Cross support was offered but declined by all of the occupants. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $180,000.

The fire originated on the exterior rear deck and is under investigation.
