Focus on Facts

What it does: Facts will give you the knowledge you need so you can take the actions you need to take to keep you and your family safe.

Why it matters: You do not want to be a spreader of COVID-19 OR misinformation about it.

What you can do:

  1. Learn the facts, do not wallow in the myths
  2. Get good info from good sources: Fairfax County Health Department, Virginia Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  3. Call us if you have questions. Our COVID-19 information center is open 7 days a week: 703-267-3511

Wear a Mask

What it does: Stops COVID-19 carrying respiratory droplets that are produced when you cough, sneeze, sing, talk, or breathe from reaching others.

Why it matters: You may have COVID-19 and not have any symptoms at all, or not have them yet, but you can still spread the virus to others. This is why it is important to wear a mask when you are around others, even if you feel well.

What You Can Do

  1. Choose the right mask
  2. Donate a face covering
  3. Report a face covering violation

Wash Your Hands

What it does: Kills the germs that cause COVID-19 (and lots of other illnesses).

Why it matters: Proper hand washing (30 seconds with soap and water or hand sanitizer containing 60% alcohol or more) will help prevent germs from entering your body when you touch your face.

What You Can Do

  1. Wash your hands properly
  2. Share this video, so these kindergarteners can school your friends on handwashing

Practice Safe Six

What it does: Keeping a distance of six feet or more between yourself and others helps prevent respiratory droplets produced by those around you from contacting with your body, and vice-versa.

Why it matters: COVID-19 spreads easily from person-to-person, and people without symptoms can spread the virus. Social distancing is one thing we can do to limit virus circulation.

What you can do:

  1. Listen to this podcast to better understand what social distancing really means
  2. Follow social distancing guidelines for the holiday season
  3. Stay up-to-date on phased reopening of businesses and public places in Northern Virginia
