Homelessness Count Increases, Mirroring Regional Trend


  • During the Point-in-Time Count, there were 1,310 people experiencing homelessness in Fairfax County – an increase of 10% from 2022.
  • This increase aligns with a regional trend as the demand for shelter increased significantly throughout 2022, especially among families with children.
  • 11 emergency shelters serve the community all year long, as well as six transitional housing programs.
