Caregiving 101 - Prepare to Care
Caring for a loved one can be a rewarding experience, but it can also be challenging. No one is ever completely prepared for the job, especially since caregiving is often a long-term responsibility that may become more difficult over time.

• Do you spend several hours a week or more helping a loved one with daily living – housework, driving, grocery shopping – medical care, or financial responsibilities?
• Do you sometimes put the needs of your loved one in front of your own?
• Are you overwhelmed with the responsibilities of caring for a loved one in your busy life?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, chances are you could use help.  AARP’s Prepare to Care workshop provides you with information and resources to help you better care for yourself and the ones you love.   In this workshop, participants will learn five steps every caregiver should take: How to Start the Conversation; Forming a Team; Making a Family Plan, Finding Support; and the Importance of Caring for Yourself.  AARP wants family caregivers to know there is support and resources out there that can help make this important work a little easier. They don’t have to do this on their own.
