CALL TO ORDER

Commission Chair Gloria Crawford called the Wednesday, December 5, 2018 Commission meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

 

Approval of Agenda:  It was moved by Commissioner Torres and seconded by Commissioner Malik that the December 5, 2018 agenda be approved as presented.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

Approval of Minutes:  It was moved by Commissioner Selim and seconded by Commissioner Salinas that the November 7, 2018 minutes be approved as amended.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

STAFF ISSUES:  Director Sanders updated the Commission on the November monthly report.  The Staff met the balance score card goals for the month.  Director Saunders suggested to Commissioner Crawford that training be presented to the Commissioners sometime in the New Year.

 

COMMISSION BUSINESS:

 

HRC #2018071H – FIR.  It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Malik that this complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Human Rights Ordinance has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP.  The motion passed by majority vote with Commissioner Solon opposing the motion.

 

HRC# 201402E – Appeal.  It was moved by Commissioner Torres and seconded by Commissioner Selim that the staff findings be upheld and this matter be dismissed due to no cause finding.  The motion passed by majority vote with Commissioner Solon abstaining.

 

HRC# 2015221E Appeal.  It was moved by Commissioner Selim and seconded by Commissioner Salinas that the staff findings be upheld and this matter be dismissed due to no cause finding.  The motion passed by majority vote with Commissioner Solon abstaining.

 

 

COMMUNITY CONCERNS:  Future Awards Programs – This matter was tabled until the New Year.  

 

 

PENDING BUSINESS:  Election of Officers - the Current officers are willing to continue to serve and Commissioner Shipman agreed to serve as Commission Secretary.  The Slate for the current year are as follows; Commissioner Crawford as Chair, Commissioner Malik as Vice Chair, and Commissioner Shipman as Secretary.  

 

It was moved by Commissioner Torres and seconded by Commissioner Salinas to close the nominations for the officers.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.  

 

It was moved by Commissioner Torres and seconded by Commissioner Salinas to elect the individuals listed above as officers for the coming term.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:  There was no New Business.
