CALL TO ORDER
Commission Chair Gloria Crawford called the Wednesday, January 17, 2018, Commission meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
Approval of Agenda: It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Solon that the January 17, 2018 agenda be approved as presented. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Crawford that the January 3, 2018 minutes be approved as presented. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
STAFF ISSUES: Director Saunders updated the Commissioners on the December 2017 monthly report; the final December report has not been completed so it is not in the binders. Mr. Saunders also informed the commissioner’s that Kristen Barry is the new Compliance Supervisor, and that Nicole Rawlings has left OHREP and her position as well as a new investigator position will be filled.
COMMISSION BUSINESS:
HRC #2012130E – APPEAL. It was moved by Commissioner Brangman and seconded by Commissioner Salinas that the investigative staff will reach out to six witnesses identified in the Final Investigative Report with respect to the allegations of age and sex discrimination. Once the witnesses have been contacted, OHREP will notify the Commission of its findings. The motion passed by majority vote with 5 votes and 2 abstentions.
HRC #2017125H – Conciliation Agreement. It was moved by Commissioner Brangman and seconded by Commissioner Griffin Paul that conciliation agreement in this matter be accepted as presented. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
COMMUNITY CONCERNS: There were no Community Concerns.
PENDING BUSINESS: Awards Committee – Commissioner Crawford informed the Commissioners that the Fair Housing Luncheon Committee would like to get a noted speaker for the Fair Housing Luncheon and that OHREP will be partnering with the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR). Commissioner Crawford also noted that the nomination letter for the Virginia Peters Fair Housing Award will be uploaded on the new OHREP website. Efforts will also be made to put the information and nomination form on NewsLink.
NEW BUSINESS: There was no New Business.
