$40,340 to $53,786  (Grade S19)

Under the general supervision of the Industrial Electrician Supervisor, performs skilled, journeyman-level electrical work. Maintains and repairs various types of specialized electrical equipment located in wastewater pumping stations including electric motors, blowers, gasoline and diesel generator, air compressors, motor control centers, switch gear, and various types of pump controls. Assists in identifying parts required from equipment diagrams and secures repair parts in order to make necessary repair or replacement of equipment. Performs maintenance and repair of tools and test instruments used in the electrical trade.



Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, or a GED issued by a state department of education or equivalent; successful completion of an approved electrician's apprentice program and four years of experience as an industrial electrician.



The appointee to this position is required to:

  • Have and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.
  • Have and maintain a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Journeyman Electrician's license.
  • Complete a pre-employment physical and criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
  • Work 24 hour call back and must, therefore, be able to work emergency overtime.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions and may be exposed to raw waste or environments generating methane gas.
  • Have the ability to distinguish different colors of electrical wiring.
  • Drive a 1/2, 3/4 and 1-ton utility truck.
  • Operate hoisting equipment.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Perform routine climbing.
  • Enter confined spaces with a weight restriction of 310 lbs.
  • Work in areas with frequent exposure to loud noises and rare exposure to airborne substances.



Experience performing skilled electrical work in an industrial setting.
