TRANSPORTATION PLANNER II

$52,086 to $69,448  (Grade S24)
 
Description:

Assists in developing, scoping, planning, and reviewing transportation facility design plans and studies for pedestrian, bicycle, and other multi-modal projects, such as roadway, transit and parking facilities. Assists the county's bicycle and pedestrian program managers. Prepares technical reports, correspondence and other written documents. Coordinates project development with residents, agencies, special interest groups, and elected officials. Develops and maintains database, spreadsheets, and GIS maps. Performs other traffic engineering and transportation planning duties as needed.

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering, urban/transportation planning or a closely related field; plus two years of experience related to transportation planning.

 

Special
Requirements:

Ability to ride a bicycle and possess basic understanding of bicycle equipment, operations, and repairs. Capable of lifting 25 pounds.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Experience in two or more of the following areas: review and/or preparation of design plans for pedestrian, bicycle, roadway or multimodal transportation projects, or transportation planning particularly related to pedestrian and bicycle facilities; experience in standard practices of bicycle and pedestrian facility design; competency in GIS and database software. Strong analytical, verbal and writing skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with government officials and the general public.
