$53,221 to $70,962  (Grade S24)

Gathers all available evidence necessary to render a recommended determination on the findings of an investigation into alleged violations of the Fairfax County Human Rights Ordinance. Prepares investigative plans and requests for information, and schedules fact-finding conferences. Presides at fact-finding conferences, gathering all relevant evidence through interviews with the complainant, high-ranking company executives, managers, supervisors and witnesses. Analyzes statistical data and supporting documents. Conducts post-fact-finding negotiations to reach equitable resolutions. Interprets and applies civil rights legal precedents. Writes recommended investigative, incorporating the applicable civil rights legal precedents, for the executive director's signature. Conducts telephone and face-to-face interviews as needed. Evaluates the nature of alleged claims. Refers individuals to the appropriate county, state, federal or probate organizations for assistance.



Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent graduation from an accredited law school; or graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in the humanities, plus three years of experience in human rights or a closely related field.



Two years of human rights investigative experience. Recent experience in human rights and civil rights investigations. Thorough knowledge of civil rights laws. Excellent writing and proofreading skills. Computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office software. Bilingual (English and Spanish).
