SUPERVISED VISITATION AND EXCHANGE MONITOR
(Probation Counselor I)

Description:

The Supervised Visitation and Exchange Monitor ("monitor") supervises child visitations and exchanges involving intimate partner violence, according to court orders or other relevant agreements. The monitor ensures a safe, neutral and secure environment. During visits and exchanges, the monitor observes, assesses, educates, and facilitates de-escalation of inappropriate client behaviors. Documents events and communicates all relevant client information to appropriate parties on a timely basis. Requires a commitment to safety, supervision, communication, and adherence to program guidelines and goals. Models appropriate parenting and communication skills in all interactions with children. Communicates with the program coordinator and stakeholders when required, and follows all program policies and procedures. Communicates effectively with collateral contacts in case meetings, court proceedings, and in supervision. Performs other duties as assigned by the program coordinator.

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree.

 

Special
Requirements:

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, as well as First Aid and CPR certification. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer as a condition of hiring and periodically thereafter.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Experience providing supervised visitation and exchange monitoring services. Experience working with families who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Proficient in using a personal computer and Microsoft Office software.

 

Selection
Procedure:

In addition to a panel interview, a written exercise may be administered.

 

Note:

This is a part-time merit-grant position. This position is funded through a three-year grant that is renewed annually and is due to expire on September 30, 2013; however, funding is expected to be renewed.

 

Note:

Work hours are Mondays and Thursdays 3:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Flexible schedule to include evening, weekend and holiday hours required.
