MAINTENANCE CREW CHIEF

Description:

Park location: Frying Pan Farm Park, 2709 West Ox Road in Herndon, Virginia. Supervises the work of several crews and manages the maintenance of park buildings, roads, trails, and equipment and associated facilities. Determines facility maintenance material and supply requirements. Estimates costs, orders materials, and manages delivery and stocking. Meets with staff and citizens to resolve maintenance issues. Completes project plans and reports. Develops maintenance crew work schedules and assignments. Completes and submits daily work reports and maintenance records. Develops long range maintenance plans. Supervises crews in completion of tasks. Inspects park equipment, buildings, facilities and utilities. Inspects safety and utility systems. Ensures that staff has been trained properly in safety requirement for equipment operation and initiates corrective action where needed.

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; plus two years of experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field.

 

Special
Requirements:

Must be able to obtain Pesticide Applicator Certification within a year from date of hire. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical examination to the satisfaction of the employer.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Two or more years of experience supervising maintenance positions. Two or more years of experience with the following: coordinating maintenance needs and solving issues for special events; performing building maintenance of modern rental facilities and historic structures; and performing grounds maintenance and landscaping.

Note:

Work hours are typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasional weekend, morning, evening, holiday, shift and overtime hours will be required.
