Description:

This announcement may be used to fill multiple positions. Location varies depending on the need of the department at One-Stop Centers throughout Northern Virginia in the counties of Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William.

Works as part of a team that provides case management, center operations, financial education, and community and business development for the Employment and Training program. Initiates and maintains ongoing personal contact with a variety of business and industry representatives to develop, locate, and secure partnerships that support economic stability; refers qualified applicants to various service providers and conducts follow-up as needed. Promotes employment and training program benefits to job seekers, employers, stakeholders, and partners; determines eligibility and assesses occupational skills and support service needs; addresses barriers to employment through education and training services. Target populations served may include at-risk teens and young adults from low-income situations, offenders, young parents, out-of-school youth, and foster care teens throughout Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun counties. Assess participant's needs and skills using formal, objective tools such as TABE and CareerScope; delivers job readiness training curriculum and career competency workshops to large groups of participants. Position includes evening and some weekend commitments.

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree plus one year of professional work experience.

 

Special
Requirements:

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, and a driver's record check, to the satisfaction of the employer. Position may require obtaining a state certification in workforce development competencies within first year on the job.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Previous job development and case management experience. Bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish. Experience with Microsoft Office software and database applications. Prior experience working with at-risk teens and young adults and employment and training program background strongly preferred. Certified by the Virginia Workforce Council as a Workforce or Business and Employer Service Professional. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing workforce development and public assistance programs. Knowledge of social, economic, health, and cultural factors that can serve as barriers to employment. Clear and concise oral and written communications skills. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to apply complex policies and procedures in the planning, implementation, and management of projects. Certified by the Virginia Workforce Council as a Workforce or Business and Employer Service Professional.

Panel interview. Writing exercise may be required.

 

Note:

This is a grant funded position. It is anticipated that funding will be renewed on an annual basis.
