$16.46 to $21.95/hour  (Grade S14)

Positions available throughout Fairfax County in Public School clinics; 33 to 35 hours per week. Provides care to sick and injured students according to established guidelines within the school and on school grounds. Facilitates administration of medications. Makes appropriate student referrals. Records health room visits and care provided on a daily basis. Compiles daily absentee reports, monthly health room statistics and submits by personal computer. Plans and conducts annual vision and hearing screening. Enters health screening into school database. Performs special health care procedures such as epinephrine injections, glucagon injections and nebulization treatments. Full training will be provided.



Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; plus two years of experience working with school-aged children. A TB risk assessment is required for employees assigned to this class.



A TB screening will be required for employees who have not been tested within the preceding year. Appointees to these positions will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer as a condition of appointment.



Two years of paid or volunteer experience working with school-age children. Good verbal and written communication skills and customer service experience. Must be able to multitask and set priorities, and able to work independently. Experience using Microsoft Office software applications. Experience caring for sick and injured children.
