Stormwater Management is comprised of three divisions that develop, promote and implement strategies to protect the county's stormwater infrastructure and preserve and improve the natural ecosystem. The agency also provides emergency response to flooding and other designated emergencies.
Manages Stormwater Management's safety program by developing a safety awareness program for both field and office staff, conducting regular classroom and field occupational safety and health training, and coordinating with outside training providers. Researches industry safety standards. Evaluates work areas, procedures, policies, and equipment to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and agency safety laws, regulations, and standards. Investigates on-the-job accidents and injuries, prepares written reports, and makes recommendations for corrective safety action as necessary. Identifies trends, monitors loss reports, and prepares safety reports. Represents Stormwater Management on department safety council.



Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in industrial engineering, safety management, loss prevention or closely related field; plus two years of comprehensive safety programs experience.



Must have a valid driver's license. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer as a condition of employment.



Experience with maintenance/construction work site safety and training programs. Working knowledge of OSHA and VOSH regulations, specifically pertaining to maintenance/construction. Working knowledge of DOT commercial drivers licensing requirements. Experience with accident investigation and documentation.
