The Director of Development provides professional level support to the Fairfax County Park Foundation, a supporting organization of the Fairfax County Park Authority.

Participates in planning, executing and analyzing fundraising campaigns by mail, personal solicitation and events. Designs and develops fundraising materials, presentations, website content, newsletters, correspondence and reports. Coordinates graphics, printing and mailings. Assists with special projects. Identifies grant opportunities, and writes, or assists park staff and volunteers in writing grant applications and reporting. Collaborates with the Park Authority, Park Foundation and Park Authority Boards in attracting support for park facilities and programs.



Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in business management; plus two years of professional work experience in the fundraising field.



The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.



Highly Preferred: Understanding of a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization's roles and responsibilities in supporting a county agency; five years of development experience with foundations, corporations, government agencies and individuals; proficiency in communication skills and political savvy to serve as contact liaison of the Fairfax County Park Foundation; and experience working with board members, high level executives, elected officials, volunteers and other community representatives.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software, specifically in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience using Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge fund raising management and Importomatic software. Experience with Quickbooks for Nonprofits software.



Panel interview.



Will be required to attend Park Authority Foundation Board meetings, which are normally held in the evening. Occasionally required to attend other evening and weekend meetings.
