Region 3*. Manages the day-to-day operations of regional teen programs and services at the Reston Teen Center located at 12190 Sunset Hills Road in Reston, Virginia. Provides management leadership for programs, services and operations at a diverse, multifunctional center. Programs for ages 12-18 provide traditional and non-traditional recreation, character and leadership development, prevention, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and computer education. Develops and implements a community outreach plan that targets underserved teens to increase overall service delivery. Working with the Regional Community Developer, develops and maintains relationships with stakeholder groups such as citizens, civic groups, schools, government agencies and community and business partners to provide programs and services. Engages community leadership to develop responses to changing needs in the surrounding community. Maintains statistical data. Responsible for daily fiscal management. Ensures planning and implementation of a comprehensive monthly and quarterly schedule of activities, special events and agency initiatives. Monitors registrations. Procures equipment and supplies. Provides customer assistance. Hires, trains, develops, coaches and evaluates staff, volunteers and interns; determines their duties and responsibilities and assigns daily work schedules and projects. Reports to the Region 3 Operations Manager.



Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in parks, recreation, therapeutic recreation, or a closely related field; plus three years of related experience in park or recreation work (i.e., planning and conducting recreation programs on a large scale, equivalent to a countywide program, including at least two years of experience working in a teen center environment). Experience must include one year of supervisory experience.



CPR and First Aid certification. Must be capable of driving a 15-passenger van, possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record. Must be able to attain a food service management license. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a check of the Child Protective Services Registry to the satisfaction of the employer.



Master's degree in recreation administration or related field. Two years of experience supervising, developing, coaching and evaluating employees. Two years of experience in program development, implementation and evaluation. Experience with the following: community outreach and marketing; working to build community leadership, building and maintaining community relationships; developing and implementing community engagement; working collaboratively with staff to achieve outcomes and objectives; applying the principles and practices of benefits-based recreation; managing conflict; and communicating. Bilingual skills with proficiency in English.

Teen Programs are rendered six days a week and operate during day, night and weekends hours. Staff typically rotate day, night and weekend schedules with members of their regional team.



*Region 3 is located in the northern area of Fairfax County. This position works under the direction of the Region 3 Operations Manager.
