CONSUMER SPECIALIST II

Description:

Performs complaint investigations, license and permit application review, inspections of taxicabs and other licensed businesses, staff training, administrative duties, and leads Administrative Assistant IIIs in the processing and issuance of licenses and permits. Conducts investigations of license and permit applicants and licensed businesses as needed. Manages taxicab fleet records and ensures compliance with applicable codes. Conducts examination of new taxicab driver license applicants. Ensures consistent application of and compliance with appropriate codes, ordinances, regulations, and policies in the review of license and permit applications and consumer complaints. Determines applicant eligibility to file an application and complaint. Conducts analysis of license, permit and/or complaint submissions in the context of applicable codes, thoroughness of submission, and routing procedures. Communicates regulations, code information, and license and permit procedures to the public, business owners, and other governmental agencies. Recommends code, policy, and procedural changes and prepares appropriate documentation. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Consumer Specialist III, Regulation and Licensing Branch (RALB).

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from a four-year accredited college or university; plus two years of experience investigating and mediating complaints dealing with consumer and/or tenant-landlord problems, or related fields.

 

Special
Requirements:

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and credit history check to the satisfaction of the employer.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Considerable experience in the consumer protection field and in conducting consumer fraud investigations. Extensive knowledge and experience interpreting state and county laws. Demonstrated ability presenting information orally and in writing, speaking before groups on consumer issues. Knowledge and proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat Professional computer software. Knowledge of Intranet Quorum.
