This position is located at the Noman M. Cole Pollution Control Plant in Lorton, Virginia, a 67-MGD advanced wastewater treatment facility with 136 employees in various trades, engineering, administrative and management fields. Under general supervision, develops and manages occupational health and safety programs in multi-discipline field operations with office support. Develops and implements work site safety procedures. Monitors, inspects and analyzes county work sites, procedures, equipment, materials, and processes to ensure compliance with various federal, state and local occupational safety and health laws, regulations, codes and standards. Responsible for meeting all mandatory training requirements promulgated under OSHA/VOSH. Develops, conducts and/or coordinates occupational safety and health training programs. Maintains all occupational safety and health training program records in accordance with OSHA/VOSH. Provides safety guidance and training to employees to prevent personal injuries, vehicle accidents and equipment damage. Reviews, analyzes and evaluates incidents resulting in injury and/or financial losses and makes recommendations to reduce or eliminate the possibility of recurrence. Serves as liaison for all safety and safety-related training issues.



Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in industrial engineering, safety management, loss prevention or closely related field; plus two years of comprehensive safety programs experience.



The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical to the satisfaction of the employer. Must have a valid driver's license.



Experience in industrial or work site safety and training. Experience in developing safety and health programs. Working knowledge of OSHA and VOSH regulations, as well as knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations and codes. OSHA certified trainer in various safety training topics. Excellent skills using the Microsoft Office software to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
