SURVEY INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN

Description:

Performs technical and skilled survey work as the instrument operator on a field survey team and does related work as required. Operates (robotic) total station, data collector, and GPS equipment to collect field data and establish lines for surveys. Uses a computer and related office equipment to transfer field data to the office as needed. Supervises a crew in absence of the crew chief. Performs related duties as required; duties are performed under general supervision.

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation or a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; plus two years of survey field work.

 

Special
Requirements:

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer prior to appointment.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Graduation from Surveying Apprenticeship Classroom Education Program. Experience with use of all current field equipment, including total stations, data collectors, and Trimble GPS equipment. Qualified to work in both the field and office to perform progressive land surveying tasks, particularly in AutoCAD LDD and CIV3D.
