PROBATE/FIDUCIARY SPECIALIST
(Administrative Assistant V)

Description:

Serves as a probate specialist in the Circuit Court. Acts as the legal authority to qualify and appoint personal representatives of estates. Meets daily with the public and attorneys in order to process all aspects of probate and guardianship matters. Evaluates and determines the validity of wills presented for probate. Administers official oath of office to all qualified fiduciaries. Calculates and collects all probate tax and recording/filing fees. Provides support, training, and acts as a resource to judges, law clerks, attorneys, paralegals, and the general public.

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school; plus four years of experience providing administrative support.

 

Special
Requirements:

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Experience in a court or legal environment, preferably in the probate area. Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in dealing with the public on sensitive issues. Good organizational skills and data entry skills. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite software, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.

 

Selection
Procedure:

Panel interview. As part of the interview process, a written exercise may be administered.

 

Note:

Position may be underfilled at the Administrative Assistant IV level ($39,334 to $52,446). The minimum qualification for an Administrative Assistant IV are any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school; plus three years of experience providing administrative support.
