The Correctional Health Services Administrator (CHSA) manages, directs, and coordinates the medical and dental services provided by staff under their command in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Also manages, oversees, and provides leadership/guidance for all medical staff, including nurses, contractors, case managers, technicians, and clerical workers. Responsible for the development of institutional standards to ensure compliance with all agency, state, and national health care standards and related accreditation standards. Works in conjunction with the Financial Services Branch to: manage all medical/dental contracts; develop and maintain programs for services/research/preventative medicines; establish fees and rates for co-pay of services; and manage all budgetary and accounting functions for the section. Serves as the agency liaison with community health and welfare programs and represents the agency at interagency and community meetings. Duties are performed under the direction of a Deputy Sheriff Major.



Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a master's degree in nursing, clinical nurse specialist; clinical psychology; plus seven years of professional health care experience, including two years of administrative and/or managerial experience.



The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a credit check, and a polygraph examination to the satisfaction of the employer. Must also undergo a medical screening and psychological evaluation prior to starting work.



Master's degree in public health, public administration, business administration, or health care administration. Comprehensive knowledge of Fairfax County's request for proposal (RFP) process. Strong communication skills and an understanding of quality improvement processes. Strong multitasker with ability to implement vision within a team framework. Must be a self-starter with ability to be flexible as situations dictate.
