Description:

Exciting opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team at the new Outpatient Addiction Medicine Center, in a community-based outpatient setting. Staff is being enhanced and expanded to provide integrated services, addressing substance use and mental health disorders as well as co-occurring primary care needs. Programming includes medically and clinically managed detoxification, inductions, medication management, case management, and engagement and referral services.

Assesses and monitors for withdrawal symptoms and side effects from medications. Educates the multidisciplinary staff and consumers about medical, substance abuse and mental health issues. Communicates with medical and clinical staff and others inside the CSB, as well as those in the community. Writes policies and procedures; and maintains and monitors adherence to licensure.

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus two years of post-licensure experience as a nurse, in the specialty area of psychiatric mental health nursing, substance use disorders, intellectual disabilities, or relevant clinical specialty; or graduation from an accredited college with an associate degree in nursing; plus four years of post-licensure experience as a nurse in the specialty area of psychiatric mental health nursing, substance use disorders, intellectual disabilities, or relevant clinical specialty.

 

Special
Requirements:

Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) check and a check of the Child Protective Services Registry to the satisfaction of the employer. Shift work and weekend work are required.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Extensive experience working with detoxification or medical/surgical and psychiatric conditions.
