Administers all duties and responsibilities associated with the Helicopter Division Maintenance Department. Supervises, coordinates and administers the inspection and maintenance programs for the Helicopter Division aircraft. Assures air worthiness and compliance with FAA regulations through supervision of maintenance technician(s) and regular performance of related work as required. Administers and coordinates activities associated with spare parts, tool management, quality assurance and safety management systems as they pertain to the Maintenance Department. Administers and coordinates the repair, replacement and inspection of avionics and special equipment with contractors. Supervises inspections required by the manufacturer or mandated by the FAA to determine airworthiness with occasional hands-on performance of work. Maintains all aircraft and engine maintenance records. Works on a call-out basis for unscheduled emergency repairs. Prepares and reviews performance evaluations for subordinate employees.



Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation or G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; plus six years of experience servicing helicopters.



Satisfactory completion of the Bell Factory Field Maintenance Course for Bell 429 series helicopters. Experience on twin engine aircraft. Possession of a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate. FAA Inspection Authorization, within six months of appointment and maintained throughout employment. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer. Candidate must live or be willing to move to within 30 miles of the Fairfax County line.



Advanced college degree relevant to tasks to be performed. Five years of experience as a Director of Maintenance Operations. Possession of helicopter airmen certificate. Advanced airmen ratings including Instrument Flight Rating and Commercial rating. Specific knowledge and experience in repair, installation and maintenance of advanced avionics equipment, including but not limited to video downlink systems, GPS and GIS-based navigational software, and Electronic Flight Information Systems.
