Description:

Researches and prepares written responses to requests for interpretations of the Zoning Ordinance. Prepares reports on appeals of decisions of the Zoning Administrator. Researches and prepares Zoning Ordinance Amendments and conducts special studies, as required. Writes detailed reports. Interprets data relating to land use and public facilities. Responds to zoning inquiries in person and by phone. Attends meetings and makes public presentations. Performs related duties as required.

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a planning related field; plus three years of experience in a planning related field. The years of experience should include a minimum of two years of experience in zoning evaluation, zoning administration, or land use planning. A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Experience: interpreting and applying Zoning Ordinance and zoning administration procedures; and providing staff support to an elected or appointed board, authority or commission. Must be able to conduct independent research and to communicate effectively, in both written and oral formats.

 

Selection
Procedure:

Panel interview. Finalists may be interviewed by the Director, Zoning Administration Division. Applicants may be asked to provide samples of work.

 

Note:

This vacancy may be underfilled by a less qualified applicant at the level of Planner I (Grade S21, $47,354 to $63,139). The minimum qualifications for this level are education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a planning-related field. Upon completion of an underfill agreement, the employee will be elevated to the level of Planner II.
