Description:

Performs highly skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of wastewater pumping station machinery, pumps, and regular preventive maintenance services on this equipment as scheduled. Provides detailed supervision and guidance as a crew leader to a group of Plant Mechanic II's. Performs parts inventory and prepares bills of materials for repair/replacement projects. Collects data and information for a computerized maintenance management program. Participates in training and safety programs. Performs related duties as required; duties are performed under supervision.

 

Minimum
Qualifications:

Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, or a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education and five years of mechanical experience; including two years of wastewater experience.

 

Special
Requirements:

Will be required to complete a criminal background check and physical examination to the satisfaction of the employer. Must have and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license. May be required to enter into permitted confined spaces, using an OSHA certified non-entry retrieval system, which includes a safety harness with a weight restriction of 310 pounds.

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

Welding experience and electrical knowledge. Experience in the methods, tools and equipment used by mechanics in the repair, overhaul and preventive maintenance of various types of sophisticated machinery located in wastewater pumping stations. Ability to make independent judgments and decisions within the framework of oral and written instructions, procedures, and accepted trade practices; and utilize an industry standard asset management system and SCADA system.

 

Note:

This position requires a five-day work schedule with participation in the trouble response after-hour program, which means that the appointee will be subject to 24 hour call-back and must, therefore, be able to work emergency overtime. This position will be subject to working in adverse weather conditions and may be exposed to raw waste.
