A jobshare position is a part-time position (20 hours per week) that was created from splitting a full-time position in half. In many cases the incumbents of the two part-time positions share job duties and responsibilities and therefore must coordinate their work activities to ensure continuity.
Jobshare positions can offer distinct advantages to employees and to the County. The talent and experience of two individuals can be applied to a given task, often giving better results than an individual effort. Work schedules can be adjusted to cover peak periods as well as to accommodate the needs of an employee. Flexible scheduling can play a key role in balancing work/family issues.
