Dear Fairfax County community,

All our staff members at Fairfax County Public Library are excited to be hosting our first proper Summer Reading Adventure in two years! We are offering an array of both in-person and virtual programs for all ages throughout the summer months. Finisher swill receive the ever-popular coupon sheets as prizes!

Our Summer Reading Adventure is activities-based this year. This means that in addition to reading books, attending events and other community activities will help you finish the challenge.

We invite everyone from preschoolers to retirees to participate! We have partnered with Beanstack so participants can easily keep track of their progress online. Paper logs are also available at our branches upon request.

A personal favorite author of mine (I was a children’s librarian earlier in my career) will help us kick off our summer fun virtually on Saturday, June 11. Register now to enjoy Eric Litwin as he shares his original Pete the Cat read-aloud stories, as well as The Nuts, Groovy Joe and The Poop Song.

The adult portion of our Summer Reading Adventure is relatively new, and we hope many of you participate. Our Collection Services staff work hard to make sure reading is easy and enjoyable. Check out our eBooks of the Month(Lemon by Kwon Yeo-sun in June and The Worst Gig by Jon Niccum in July) or download eAudiobooks from Libby to entertain you while commuting. The adult program is strictly activities-based, so enjoying a film via Kanopy or attending a library program will help you get across the finish line.

Among the other prizes offered to finishers are passes to a Washington Nationals game! Thank you to our friends, the Nationals, for supporting reading in their community.
