Author Walter Mosley

Nationally acclaimed author Walter Mosley will appear Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 2-3:30 p.m. at The Alden at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean. The author of more than 55 books, including the bestselling mystery series featuring Easy Rawlins and the Leonid McGill series, Mosley will discuss these characters in his talk, "From Generation to Generation: Stories of Fathers and Sons."

The event is hosted by the Fairfax County Public Library and cosponsored by The Alden. Books will be available for sale and signing. This event requires registration.

Mosley has been described by The Boston Globe as "one of the nation's finest writers" while The New York Review of Books called him a literary master as well as a master of mystery."

Mosley's fiction tracks the African American experience from the migration from the Deep South to post-Obama election-era New York City. According to the author, his characters are the sorts of "fully formed, complex black men who have been absent from much of contemporary literature."

Several of his books have been adapted for film and television, including Devil in a Blue Dress, which was made into a feature film starring Denzel Washington.

A social commentator, Mosley has written several non-fiction book, including Life Out of Context, examining economic inequality, politics and justice in America. He is the first African-American to serve on the board of directors of the National Book Awards and has received numerous literary awards, including an O'Henry Award, The Sundance Risktaker Award, a Grammy and two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Literary Work.
