Hunter Family Cemetery

1010 Lynn St.
Vienna, Va.

FX001

This small cemetery is on land that was once part of "Moidone", the estate of JOHN HUNTER. Hunter inherited the land in 1806 and built the house sometime later, perhaps after his service in the War of 1812. The house was standing by 1836. "Moidone" was demolished in 1959 to make way for the surrounding subdivision. The graves of JAMES HUNTER (1805-1867) and SARAH HUNTER (1815-1897) are encircled by a 4' high rock wall and the grave of IDA VON DACHENHAUSEN (1870-1898) is located just east of the wall. There are doubtless unmarked burials present as well.
