Community Days: Bringing Out the Best in Fairfax County Neighborhoods

There is much more to “community” just a map of streets and houses or just a group of people that happen to live in the same geographic area. In Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS), we know that community is a collection of people, experiences, opportunities and resources that come together to enable EVERYONE – regardless of age, ability or background – to achieve their potential. That’s why Community Days are so important to us.

Neighborhood and Community Services

Here are 3 ways NCS Community Day Events bring out the best in Fairfax County neighborhoods:

  1. Build Fellowship and Engagement. First and foremost, Community Days provide a golden opportunity for neighbors to get to know one another and interact with each other around common interests and efforts. Strong, safe communities are achieved when neighbors recognize and engage with each other in a welcoming atmosphere of fellowship – and that’s what Community Days aim to achieve.

  2. Discover Opportunities. Community Days also bring residents of the neighborhood together with local community- and county-based organizations who provide resources, services, programs and more to enhance the welfare and well-being of individuals and families within the community. Come and see what your community can offer you and your family!

  3. Celebrate Diversity. Fairfax County communities are made up of individuals and families from a broad spectrum of social, cultural and professional backgrounds, and this is a source of great strength within our communities. Whether it’s sharing a talent or skill with others or simply enjoying a cultural performance by some of your neighbors, Community Days celebrate diversity and offer interactive experiences so that others may gain understanding and appreciation for the beauty, art and culture from around the world that has become a part of our community.

BONUS: They’re FREE! After all, who can say “No” to an afternoon of FREE, family-friendly fun and entertainment!?!
