Beginner Tai Chi

Tuesday, May 11, 9-10 a.m.

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese martial art that incorporates a series of weight shifting, circular movements, and postural exercises. Tai Chi is low impact and can be adapted to the student’s fitness level. The exercise is in slow-motion while still providing a connection to self defense.

Key features of Tai Chi include:

  1. Nearly anyone can do it!
  2. Regular practice addresses key fitness components including strength, flexibility, and endurance.
  3. Helps reduce falls and improves balance.
  4. Improves brain function.
  5. Promotes serenity. This class will include chi gong standing meditation in the warm up.

Please check with your doctor before starting this or any exercise program.

Please Note: Due to health and safety concerns and to avoid unnecessary disruptions, classes will close 10 minutes after their start time and new participants will not be admitted.

This class is for residents of Fairfax County and the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church only.
